About Me

Hey! I'm Barez, an Illustrator, Concept Artist, and Graphic Designer.

‍I've been drawing since I was a toddler, and I'm happy to say I've improved greatly since.

My approach to art stems from the following:

Stylization

Reality is already there for inspiration. Tweak it. Add new colours. Create a story. Change some shapes. Otherwise, take a photo.

Informality

As adults, we have a lot of responsibility in our second spaces. Take a load off, be polite, but connect on a human level. Stoics rarely make new friends.

Humour

Life can be a bit weird and beyond control. Humour helps not only in dealing with it but also in highlighting absurdities that exist. A satirical statement will be remembered more than a generic statement any day.

Representation

Being mixed-race and "off-white" in appearance, finding representation growing up was challenging. It's improved over time, and I'm continuing the trend for myself and many others. There are so many untapped stories from underrepresented demographics, and I aim to assist and deliver.
